Tow Ball Mounted

Pros

  • Transport upto four bikes
  • Safe & secure
  • Lockable
  • Quick and easy to fit
  • Convenient Loading height.
  • No contact with car's paintwork.
  • Doesn't increase vehicle height (less fuel consumption compared to roof mounted)
  • Universal fit - can be used on most types of tow bars so you don't need to buy another if you change your vehicle.
  • Integrated number plate board and rearlights
  • Access boot with bikes loaded
  • Carrier and bike(s) weight is supported on the vehicle chassis (not the bodywork)

Cons:

  • Requires a tow bar
  • Disables the towbar for towing whilst bike carrier is attached.

Roof Mounted Racks

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Compact for storage
  • Lockable
  • Compatible with 99% of roof bars
  • Quick and easy to fit
  • Doesn't require a tow bar

Cons:

  • Increase vehicle height
  • Increase wind resistance, fuel consumption and noise
  • Each bike has to be lifted up onto car roof.
  • Requires a car roof rack

Rear Boot Mounted

Pros

  • Transport upto four bikes
  • Less expensive than towbar mounted carriers
  • Easy loading height compared to roof mounted

Cons:

  • May obscure rear lights and number plate. Lighting board required.
  • Not suitable for vehicles with high intensity high rear lights
  • Not suitable for vehicles with roof spoilers
  • Attachment points are in contact with vehicle paint work.
